TCS Mentors Inspire Kids to Study STEM
Volunteers in the goIT program share computer science skills with students across the U.S. and Canada.
The TCS goIT Student Technology Awareness Program inspires the workforce of the future.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics , there will be about 4.4 million jobs that require computer science and information technology skills by 2024. Increasing demand for technology professionals is fueled by growth in mobile solutions, cloud computing, connected devices, and big data.
Even today, demand for IT workers outpaces supply, in part due to the limited number of college graduates with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) degrees. Given the fact that most primary schools haven’t added coding to the curriculum, it’s not surprising that many high school grads feel intimidated by the prospect of STEM studies.
With the goIT program, our goal is to demystify computer science and help students gain the skills and confidence required to pursue STEM degrees—and become tomorrow’s technology leaders.

goIT is an experiential, immersive program. Middle and high school students get hands-on technology education, working in teams to tackle icon-based programming languages and design challenges as they collaborate to build a robot.
Tech experience makes goIT kids more likely to study STEM.
Since its launch in 2009, goIT has engaged more than 10,000 students in over 100 school districts, with promising results. Seventy percent of goIT students say they’re more interested in STEM fields after the program. We love that kids who have grown up using technology now want to learn how to create it.

goIT is TCS North America’s flagship community engagement program. Offered free of charge, goIT has engaged more than 10,000 students and provided more than 100,000 hours of high-impact skill building for students since 2009.
